Chadderton Well Being Centre, Oldham

The 'Well Being Centre' in Chadderton is a brand new municipal building that contains a library, gym and swimming pool. These were the three 'themes' that I worked on to create designs that were integral to the surfaces of the reception area. floor&desk design

trainersThe main feature is the 16 metre long reception desk. The motifs were developed from photomontage images of trainers, swimming goggles and books. These were transferred onto the front surface of the desk using marquetry, by Quentin Smith.

The floor design continues with the circular patterns. This is a text piece that was developed with a local writers group and uses prose to describe the experiences that are available within the centre.
